Hello, my name is James. I live in San Francisco, California. I am currently 13, and in 8th grade. I'm not much of an athletic person, but I love playing video games, especially on my computer, I also watch a lot of TV. But I also love running, and reading too. I started a website for my book report, as you can see. Previously, I've done a poster, pop up book, and written reports for my previous book reports in English class. So I wanted to try something different like a website.
This is a website also known as a blog. My first blog will be a book report on C.S. Lewis, "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" written in 1952. The film will be released this year, Dec 10, 2010.
Exposition
Edmund and Lucy Pevensie were spending the holidays at their cousin, Eustace Clarence's home. In Lucy's room they looked at the picture on the wall above Lucy's bed. It was of a Narnian ship, the 'Dawn Treader'. The ship comes to life where "down went the prow of the ship into the ware and up went a great shock of spray". Soon they were drowning in the water beside the 'Dawn Treader'. On board the ship, they found the Prince of Narnia, Caspian. (Chapter 1: The Picture in the Bedroom, pages 4 - 12)
Prince Caspian explained to them about his quest. "A longtime ago as a child my usurping uncle Miraz got rid of seven friends of my father's (who might have taken my part) by sending them off to explore the unknown Eastern Seas beyond the Lone Islands. On my coronation day, with Aslan's approval, I swore an oath that, if once I had established peace in Narnia, I would sail east myself for a year and a day to find my father's friends or to learn of their deaths, and avenge them if I could.
(Chapter 2: On Board the Dawn Treader, pages 20 - 21)

Antagonists
Eustace Clarence Scrubb - The Pevensies' cousin. He did not believe that Narnia existed and loved teasing his cousins about it. (Chapter 1: The Picture in the Bedroom, pages. 1 - 5) At the second island they visit, Eustace leaves the group to avoid doing any work, and hides in a dead dragon's cave to escape a sudden downpour. The dragon's treasure arouses his greed: he fills his pockets with gold and jewels and puts on a large golden bracelet; but as he sleeps, he is transformed into a dragon. (Chapter 6: The Adventures of Eustace, page 97)
Gumpas - Governor of the Lone Islands. Gumpas was a "bilious-looking man with hair that had once been red and now mostly gray." He allows slavery as "necessary, unavoidable. An essential part of the economic development of the islands." (Chapter 4: What Caspian did there, pages 58 - 61).

Rising Action
The rising action happens in the Lone Islands in Narnian territory, but where slave trade exist even though it is forbidden by Narnian law.
Lucy, Edmund, Eustace, and Reepicheep are caught as merchandise by a slave trade. Caspian is bought by a man even before they are put at the slave market. The man who “buys” Caspian turns out to be the first lost lord. Lord Bern was banished from Narnia by Miraz. Lord Bern moved to the Lone Islands and married a woman there.
Bern bows to Caspian after it is revealed that he is King of Narnia. Then Caspian reclaims the islands for Narnia, and makes Lord Bern the Duke of Lone Islands.

Conflict
Prince Caspian, Lucy, Edmund, Eustace, and the rest of the crew in the ship must find the seven lost lords of Narnia. They are scattered all across Narnia though, and they had a lot of obstacles along the way like Eustace turning into a dragon, or when they were captured as slaves. Another problem they encountered was when they had to go to a really dark island where dreams come true to rescue a lord but, at the cost of a couple of men are killed.
"I swore an oath that, if once I establish peace in Narnia, I would sail east myself for a year and a day to find my father's friends or to learn of their deaths and avenge them if I could."

Climax
When the ship could not go no farther because of the strong wave currents. Edmund, Lucy, Reepicheep, and Eustace must take a boat to go further in the World's End. Once they see a tall wave around 30 feet high, the little rat, Reepicheep knows what he must do.
"At that moment, with a crunch, the boat ran aground. The water was too shallow now for it. "This", said Reepicheep, "is where I go on alone." Then he took off his sword ("I shall not need it no more," he said) and flung it far away across the lilied sea. Then he bade them good-bye, trying to be sad for their sakes; but he was quivering with happiness. Then he hastily got into his little boat and took his paddle and the current caught it and away he went, very black against the lilies. Then it vanished, along with the brave little mouse, Reepicheep.

Falling Action
Eustace has done nothing but complain, and he is a pain to deal with. When they reach the next island, Eustace sees a dying dragon and tries to part of its treasure. Then he is turned into a dragon. Aslan is the only one who can turn Eustace back.
When Eustace is a dragon, he realizes how horrible he is, and when he helps the sailors. “it was clear to everyone that Eustace’s character had changed.” When the Dawn Treader was being attached by the sea monster, Eustace “now did the first brave thing he had ever done." As soon as the serpent’s body was near enough he began hacking at it with all his might.” When Eustace was on the island as a dragon he “was very anxious to help. He flew over the whole island and found that it was inhabited by only goats and droves of old swine. Of these he brought back many provisions.”
(Chapter 7: How the Adventure Ended, pages 107 - 108)

Resolution
The strong waves and currents take the boat with Edmund, Eustace, and Lucy on to an island with short grass and rich soil. They encounter a sheep, and it transforms into Aslan. The lion takes the children home through a magical portal in the sky, but tells the children they cannot come back to Narnia again.
Once the children are back in their own world, everyone notices how much Eustace has changed into a better person, except for Eustace's auntie, who thinks that Edmund and Lucy had something to do with it. Back in Narnia, the Dawn Treader with everyone in it, comes back to Ramandu's Island unharmed and the three lords woke up from their sleep.
